Gandhi’s Swadeshi and ‘Make in India’ based on same ideology: Vasundhara Raje
Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Tuesday said that Mahatma Gandhi’s Swadeshi movement and the ‘Make in India’ programme were based on the same ideology.
Addressing an event organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the India-Africa Forum Summit, Raje said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ encouraged the feeling of ‘swadeshi’ to make India economically independent and self-sustaining, which was the need of the hour.
At the exhibition ‘Mahatma ki Smritiya’ here, Raje was moved by a recording of Gandhi’s words. She said the state government was encouraging khadi, art, painting, printing and handicrafts and trying to make these fields attractive for youths. A Craft Council has been set up for this purpose, she added. She also laid emphasis on international marketing and investment in the state’s blue pottery, kota doriya, bagru print and khadi products.
